Menorah Lighting and Holiday Gathering

Happy Hanukkah! This year Hanukkah is celebrated from sundown on Sunday, December 14th – Monday, December 22nd. We will light the menorah in the Venue on the Second night at 5:30 p.m.

If you would like, bring your menorah and candles (3) to light and a story or poem to share.

Chanukah (also spelled Hanukkah) is an 8-day Jewish festival marking the miraculous victory of the Maccabees, Jewish freedom fighters, over the Seleucidian Greek occupiers in the year 139 BCE. After recapturing Jerusalem’s Holy Temple, which had been converted into a place of idol worship, they searched for pure oil with which to light the Temple menorah. They found just enough to burn for one day, but miraculously it burned for eight days until more oil could be brought.

The Lifestyle team sets registration deadlines prior to event dates in order to confirm event statuses, minimum participation requirements, and/or food orders with vendors.
